Dr. Vijay Shankar: Absolute Understanding - Interview by Iain McNay

Dr. Shankar‘s many books; “Absolute Understanding“- series gonna be 60 books; all known is illusory; definition of “illusory“; the world is an optical illusion and the known is an auditory illusion of sound; how man is convinced to be the doer, speaker and thinker; enquiry vs. questioning; science and spirituality; Dr. Shankar‘s work as a research scientist in medicine; how the “understanding of life“ happened to him; the impact on his human side; suffering in Haiti; compassion and pain; the book “Evolution of Mind“: how pure light reflects itself as the illusion of the five elements, vegetation, animals and man with his mind; the illusion of “actions“ manifested through images in man‘s mind; sound appears as language; how life is beyond the mind; the ego sophisticates to the witness; anger is just a movement; past, present and future are in the “Now“; feelings are illusory; the “real“ is changeless, everywhere and eternal; the illusion of death; self-realization ends the process of thinking and reveals eternity; silence is man‘s true nature, not less noise.

Dr. Vijai S. Shankar Interview Part 1 October 2009

Introduction to the Interview in Oktober 2009 in Amsterdam about the new book of Dr. Vijai S. Shankar “Evolution of Mind”:
“There has never been an objective being.” (Upanishads)

In the book “Evolution of Mind” Dr. Vijai S. Shankar presents some kind of Weltanschauung or world-view or philosophy of life. Yes, he does. But this Weltanschauung is different than usual ones, because it reveals: There could be no place in this world for an ego to exist, no place for a doer, a speaker or a thinker.

This world of which Dr. Shankar explains its evolution is entirely illusory: The whole evolution and sophistication of conciousness, space and time, the five elements, vegetation, animal kingdom and man is totally illusory, because everything is only contained in the mind of man in form of thoughts. And this mind is also illusory, because the thoughts out of which it consists are just sound. And this sound is also illusory, because sound is a manifestation of light. And this light is reflected light and therefore illusory. Only pure light is real. And this is life!

Because the world is illusory, existing only in form of thoughts in the mind, and not real, Dr Shankar’s book is not about the evolution of the world, or what could be contained in this world, but about the “Evolution of Mind”. Evolution and sophistication are only possible in the illusory world of reflected light. Everything wich appears in the illusory world therefore has to be an expression of the one source of life. In this sense even the illusory is one.

Where could there be a place for an ego to exist at all? This understanding wipes out the illusion of a separate existence of an individual. Nothing has ever been born - nothing will ever die. The real, nevertheless, will never be experienced - it is only the illusion, evolving and sophisticating itself spontanously, uncontrollably and unpredictably, which could be experienced and therefore enjoyed. This is the understanding which comes to awaken man out of his dream of thoughts which he takes to be real.

“There has never been an objective being.” - In the revolutionary book “Evolution of Mind” Dr. Shankar explains, why. This book removes doubt after doubt and what remains is life - as it is.

Introduction and interview by Marcus Stegmaier M.A.
The book will be launched in Denekamp, The Netherlands, (near Münster, Germany), on Saturday, January 23rd 2010. For further information see http://www.acadun.com/en/schedule/

Dr. Vijai S. Shankar interview part 2 October 2009

Summary of Interview part 1:
Question 1: You have invited me to make an interview with you, especially about your new book “Evolution of Mind” which will be lauched in January 2010. My first question according this book is: “Evolution of Mind” - why do you think that this book is so important for humanity?
Question 2: What is mind?
Question 3: What is the diffence between reality and illusion?
Question 4: Can you explain what diffence it makes to understand this for a human beeing. If a human beeing understands what you say then he understands, he is not the doer, he is not the speaker and he is not the thinker. So normally man believes, he is doing, speaking and thinking. And what is the diffence between somebody who has understood what you say - in daily life?
Question 5: Sometimes there are happenings in life which man doesn’t like. If I understand you right, this understanding of the illusion of the world leads to being happy even then if something happens which I don’t like.

Summary of Interview part 2:
Question 6: If time does not exist, how can the mind evolve?
Question 7: What role does science have in this book “Evolution of Mind”? You yourself have worked as a scientist as I know and normally science uses some scientific methods to prove their statements. How do you prove your statements in your the book “Evolution of Mind”?
Question 8: How do you know what is written in the book?
Question 9: Your books are published under the label “Advaita Publications”. What is “Advaita”?
Question 10: Can you explain a little bit deeper how it happens that for a normal man it does not seem to be oneness - there are always two.
Question 11: So there is no point in listening to the mind in daily life, is it?
Answer Dr. Shankar: Yes, there is no point to listen to it in daily life, because life will happen wether you like it or not. Life is not dependent on the mind to conduct it or to unfold.

Interview and Talk with Dr. Vijai S. Shankar

Life – an Optical and Auditory Illusion of Light and Sound

During the Rainbow Spirit Festival 2008 in Baden-Baden Devasetu had the opportunity to interview Dr. Vijai S. Shankar. The second video is an excerpt from the talk “Movement”, which Dr. Shankar gave in September 2004.

Watch the video

Self inquiry and the illusion of the mind, no how for self inquiry, no time and no action in life, life as a manifestation of light and sounds, the body as thought of the mind, everything known as an illusion in the manifestation of light and sounds, grace and understanding, the spontaneously transformation of energy, the intelligence and power of illusions, clarity revealing itself; interview with Kalpna Dave about Dr. Shankar

Light followed by sounds, the source of all: pure light and pure energy, the body: only light particles, movement and sounds appearing as thoughts in the head, the inward journey, live happening to us, the uncontrollable changes of live, the jump from man to God

Dr. Vijai S. Shankar

An introduction always necessitates the name, profession, qualifications, experience and achievements of that person being given and, in the case of a writer, titles of books published and their sales. These are the sine qua non for acceptability, for the opening of the door. They are also the stuff upon which the ego is built and strengthened.

But, there is no trace of ego being pre-dominant in Dr. Shankar. Born in India in the late 1940s, Dr Shankar studied to become a medical doctor. He later came to England, where he earned a PhD in London for his research into cellular and molecular sciences. He was invited to Texas, USA for medical research, and since 1998, in response to life’s calling, his words and writings reveal the life that is HERE and NOW, the life that is enlightened and, above all, is already your own.

Life expresses itself through every manifestation in the world, be it animate or inanimate, allowing to each its own illusory identity, which is a reflection of its intelligence. Thus thinking happens to man – his basic attribute; perception happens through senses – as thoughts; and a singular movement, which is a process of transformation of energy, as actions in the form of thoughts. The conviction ‘I think’, ‘I speak’, ‘I do’ escapes no man – albeit illusory and never real. The understanding that life is a reflection of light and sound and not physical in time and space is enlightenment.
